Dead of Night

DramaFantasyHorrorMysteryThriller103 min

An architect arrives at an English country house and is unnerved to find that the guests, the setting, and the evening itself all match a recurring nightmare he has had before. Mervyn Johns is Walter Craig, whose dread deepens as the group settles in and begins trading stories of strange, supernatural encounters. The film unfolds as an anthology inside that gathering, with each tale feeding Craig's sense that something is closing in around him. One of the stories follows Michael Redgrave's ventriloquist, whose stage dummy seems to have a life and malice of its own.
