In 1930s America, three old friends — a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney — witness a murder, become the prime suspects, and start pulling at a political conspiracy with national consequences. Christian Bale is the doctor at the center of the trio, while Margot Robbie's nurse and John David Washington's attorney share the case and the history that binds them. The story moves through society parties, military circles, and back-room plotting, folding romance, crime, and period detail into a mystery built around one of the most startling secret schemes in American history.
