Still scarred by the political massacre he survived as a child, Cape Town detective Ali is drawn into a murder case that leads toward a new street drug and the disappearance of black street children. Forest Whitaker is Ali, working alongside Orlando Bloom's Brian Epkeen, a hard-living cop whose instincts don’t always match the rulebook. As they investigate the killing of a young white woman, the case begins to point beyond the city’s clubs and suburbs toward older crimes rooted in apartheid-era South Africa.
