After her father’s job uproots her to Moscow, American teenager Janie Sawyer escapes into music and the internet, where a t.A.T.u. fansite brings her into contact with Lana Starkova, a Russian girl desperate to leave her own small-town life behind. Mischa Barton and Shantel VanSanten lead as the girls turn that online bond into an in-person relationship, moving between Moscow apartments, clubs, and concerts as fandom becomes something much more intimate. Their connection grows quickly, but the rush of first love and reinvention is tangled with obsession, control, and abuse.
