In 1947 Hollywood, private eye Eddie Valiant is hired to snoop on Jessica Rabbit for her jealous husband Roger, but the job turns into a murder case when gag-factory owner Marvin Acme is found dead and Roger becomes the prime suspect. Bob Hoskins is Eddie, a down-on-his-luck detective with a grudge against toons, while Christopher Lloyd's Judge Doom is already moving to bring Roger in. With humans and cartoon characters sharing the same city, the story moves from back-lot intrigue to Toontown chaos, mixing slapstick animation, femme-fatale noir, and a whodunit built around Roger's frantic search to clear his name.
