Lords of Chaos

CrimeDramaHorrorThriller118 min

In early 1990s Oslo, Øystein “Euronymous” Aarseth wants to make his band Mayhem the center of Norwegian black metal, turning provocation, image, and notoriety into a scene of its own. Rory Culkin is Euronymous, a teenage musician whose circle grows darker as the movement around him starts attracting danger along with attention. When Emory Cohen’s Varg Vikernes enters the picture, rivalry and nihilism push the scene past performance and into violence. Told as a fictionalized account of black metal’s most infamous rise, the film follows the young men behind the music and the destruction tied to their legend.
