Dwayne Johnson is Mitch Buchannon, a devoted lifeguard whose beach patrol is thrown off by Zac Efron’s brash new recruit. Their rivalry keeps boiling over as the team handles emergencies along the water, but a local criminal plot soon pulls them into something bigger than routine rescues. What starts as a clash between Mitch’s rule-bound leadership and the newcomer’s swagger turns into an off-the-books investigation with the future of the bay at stake. Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach are part of the crew caught up in the chaos on the sand and at sea.
